What our users say about Basic4ppc: Just want to let you know how excited I am about having discovered Basic4PPC. I have been using Embedded VB (eVB) for about 10 years to develop applications for Windows CE. I have always hated what Microsoft did when they introduced VB.Net. I felt intimidated by how unrecognizable and bloated the development environment had become. But I knew I had to move on to .Net because the code produced by eVB was becoming less and less compatible with newer .Net devices. So, I began looking at purchasing Visual Studio.Net but before dishing out $800 I wanted to see if there were any alternatives to Visual Studio.Net. I looked at NS Basic and SharpDevelop but I experienced problems with those products and did not feel compelled to use them. Although, I'm not an expert and those products may be the right thing for someone else. What I am compelled to use is Basic4PPC. I downloaded the demo and immediately fell in love with it. It felt familiar to me. I made a few test apps and experienced no errors or confusion. I believe my learning curve is going to be very short. I love how simple the IDE is and how small the installation file is.With its extensibility and multimedia capabilities, I believe I can produce any piece of software I want. I love being able to compile for PocketPC as well as XP and Vista. It's the programming tool that I always dreamt of! The company's response was overwhelmingly positive. I know that I could not have done the work so promptly and efficiently if I had been forced to rely on Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005. I want to thank you again for a fantastic Pocket PC development environment and a great compiler. I will soon be undertaking a much larger Pocket PC project for a company's field sales force. Again, Basic4ppc is the tool that makes such a large project realistic, in a timely and cost effective manner. I can not praise your efforts enough. David E. The package is not only extremely low-priced, the provider of Basic4ppc also performs outstanding user support (usually within a few hours, often less, of contact) and maintains a forum with excellent resources and a friendly family of members. Programming with Basic4PPC is as easy as 1-2-3. The desktop interface is not overloaded, just the functions you need in tidy, comprehensive menus without hassles. Uniquely, you can also develop on the Pocket PC. The environment packs a rich set of DLLs which address important desktop and Pocket PC functions, including communication with periphery and network capabilities with only a few lines of code. Whatever the nature of the target application is, it will run on both the desktop and Pocket PC compiled from the same source code. Largely important for Pocket PCs, with the simple addition of a small configuration file you can even select the .NET framework versions your application is supposed to address. Updates, addition of new features and bug fixes are the fastest of its kind and always in accordance with user inputs. As Pocket PC operating systems have changed from Pocket PC 2003 to .NET while my budget lies far below the cost of Visual Studio, I really don't know what I would do without Basic4ppc.
